Village Dilemma

Postby LoonyBoy » Mon Jun 27, 2011 10:09 am

I'm torn in my choice and I please ask you, experienced players to help me out. The other day I found a village which was abandoned (and quite resourceful and large) I could take everything from it and I figured I could make it mine. I have enough LP to get lawspeaking but I also heard that I could just destroy the village idol and claim the land myself. However the land is quite huge (i wont have enough LP to even cover 25% of walled border) and maybe its better for me to claim the village for myself then hope more ppl will join and help me manage it. What I want is a safe place for me to keep my stuff and discover new things and this village offers good protection with walls. What are consequences of becoming a lawspeaker, what do I need to maintain the village above the 50K authority? Should I just p. claim a small piece of village and hope to get more LP in future and claim the rest? Thanks in advance. Also if you want to help me out with this new village, you're welcome to PM me.

Better to build a village idol, and then personal claim what you need to. It's easy enough to destroy an old idol, or perhaps just wait it out a few days. Village Idol is the way to go in the long run, especially if you want others to join with you.

I found it pretty easy to keep the authority maxed as 1 person.

And yeah, destroy their old idol and build a new one, and also destroy any HF you find in the village.

Thanks for quick replies guys! One thing I don't understand though. Why destroy the old idol, can't I just use the old idol and make myself lawspeaker from it or does that cause me to get some sort of penalty that I'm unaware of?

Edit: Also forgot about the high expense of 30k LP if I was to start from scratch, wondering if I still have to pay 30k if I'm able to use (not sure) the old idol.

If the old villagers decide to return, if their idol is still up they can port to it.

And then kill you, if they feel annoyed that someone is squatting in their home ;)

30k lp is not so much. Go foraging, find a few flotsams.

Can't build a new village idol on a village claim. It's your only option if the old LS still has the position, to wait for authority to drop and then ram the idol. Also, if you use the old village idol, and just become LS, the old villagers can come in and wreck your shit. No fun at all. Best to destroy the old idol and drop the 30k lp into a new one, unless you have a friend or 4 willing to split the cost with you.

You have to have a personal claim on the area the hf's are in, then you can whack em out.
