Bear material quality

Ok.

How it works? Wiki says: (Level*20 + ToolQ + 2*Survival)/4

But for me it's not true at all. Seems that tool q have much higher value... am I wrong?

This does appear to be wrong. I have a q52 axe and 140 survival. I get q126 bear meat/intestines. The survival is only part of the equation if (L*20+ToolQ)/2 is > survival.

Missing from this: Bear level = 10 (assumed)
(L*20+ToolQ)/2 = (200+80)/2 = 140
140 <= 182 is true, so no soft cap occurs

Lets say you had 120 survival:
140 <= 120 is false, so result is softcapped
(survival + Q)/2 = (120+140)/2 = 130

Lets say you had a Q170 axe (unlikely I know):
(L*20+ToolQ)/2 = (200+170)/2 = 185
185 <= 182 is false, so result is softcapped
(survival + Q)/2 = (185+182)/2 = 183.5 (I think things get rounded down so 183)

Thus, the only reason you run up your Survival is to get better quality bones.

Imagine bear meat and bones always being equal to it's level*20. Seeing as most bears are level 10, that would make them q200 walking meat factories. When you skin and butcher the animal, the first thing the game check is your tool's quality. If the tool's quality is less than that of the bear's, then it gets softcapped. Softcapping is a function used almost everywhere in the game to determine qualities, and usually works like:

In this case, it takes the tool's quality in place of the skill level. After softcapping on the tool's level, the game checks your Survival against the resulting meat quality. If it is lower, it results in another softcap. So, Bear meat will be softcapped twice if you have a low tool quality and low survival.

Bones only check your Survival, so it won't hurt to have 200.
