Underground villages

Postby Sitting_Bill » Wed Jul 06, 2011 1:07 am

Hi - Can the village idol be placed underground?

Also is it possible to put a minehole where the terrain is mined out/cave underneath? (i.e. is an underground village at all defendable)

thanks for your help :)

yes village idol can be placed underground.
I think u can't mine a terrain when it's already mined underground, so a underground village is defendable as long as u have mined the tiles within ur brickwall or pali (u cant mine on terrain just upward to get into it-at least thats what i was told, nobody tried it in my underground village).

Yes. An Idol can be built anywhere you can pave tile (or that counts as paved tile, like mined out spaces).

Yes. However, some locations may bug and not give the ladder on the layer below.

Yes, an underground village is very defendable. One built on the lowest level (L5) is the best because you can't have a minehole coming up in and it's hard to just snake tunnel in.

You don't even have to mine all the area within the walls out.

No, you can't dig up into the layer above. There's no reason you can't other than the devs haven't provided us the tools to do so (ie an upwards mine hole).

Btw is there a precise rule about it, how it works?
is it like "u cant have acces on -1 layer if it's claimed?"
or "if it's mined around xx tile?"

if somebody know it exactly?

(sry for bad english)

I'm not sure what you mean. Claims follow the same rules no matter what layer they are on. There is no restriction on what or where you can claim other than attempting to claim a place to close to another persons or villages claim. If you have enough people (and alts), you can claim all six layers on top and below each other.

magic he's asking (and I'm still wondering) because you said this:

which implies that they cant sink a minehole DOWN into your village from above - why is this?

You need mine-able area under the spot where the minehole deploys into the walkable space. Otherwise it will fail. So if you pretty much mined everything inside of your village, you shouldn't need to fear about having stalactite-style raiders.

who follows the same routes every day,
who never changes pace,
who does not risk and change the color of his clothes,
who does not speak and does not experience, dies slowly.

Does it? I was saying you don't have to mine it all out to get walls and such up to get the village started. (I know I didn't say that to start with.) You won't have much room to build anything, though, without mining out a fairly good sized area. Some people start by mining out the entire area. I've not really tried dropping a mine hole on top of a mined out area. As far as I know, you still can.
