Decreasing wax quality?

Postby Procne » Fri Jul 08, 2011 9:31 pm

Strange thing - quality of honey and wax that I get from my hives is constantly decreasing. First I build quality 20 hive and after some time it was only giving quality 10 honey/wax.

Then I built 2 quality 48 hives and at first they were giving quality 48 and 80 wax/honey (second one was near field with ql 100 carrots). But after few days quality started decreasing, and now it's 25.

Both hives are surrounded with quality 50+ crops, around 300 tiles. True, I'm not harvesting them regularly, but when I replant Each hive gets 1-3 wax instantly, but it's still of this low quality.

Do I have to regularly replace hives?

I believe the commonly accepted theory is this--if hives don't have actively growing crops, they quickly lose quality.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I have tried to do a little experimenting with beehives after noticing the same phenomena. Hive quality (and I believe Loftar confirmed this) does not seem to affect honey/wax quality. The quality of crops in the area of affect does affect honey/wax quality. Honey from hives collected infrequently seems to result in lower quality than hives under the same conditions and drained frequently. Another player I discussed this with suggested it could be a result of the quality equation always rounding down.

tl;dr

Beehives are bugged as shit.
I think it's made of bubbles and hate.

the q will begin to grow again after some time, their quality depends very much on q crops planted

I thought hives don't have quality?

EDIT:

May 03 04:29:03 <alpha> I got a question about game mechanic loftar :) Does beehive materials quality matter in any way?
May 03 04:29:57 <loftar> I think so.
May 03 04:30:04 <alpha> thanks
May 03 04:30:33 <loftar> Ah, disregard that, I suck cocks.
May 03 04:30:44 <loftar> It seems it doesn't.

For almost 2 weeks it was only dropping. It's easier and faster to just build new hives ^^

I will make little experiment. I will build low quality hive and a high quality one, then I will replant replant 100 hemp of quality 55+ near each of them, and see what quality products will I get from hives

I noticed :
The more often u harvest, the more quality's increasing. If u dont harvest when crops are ready for too long, quality will reduce. Try harvesting carots every 12h and you should see quality rise.
Also, crops q matters.
And it seems beehive q really doesn't matter.

Also noticed to try not have hive radius' overlap, or as little as possible. My honey and wax q started increasing again after I killed one hive to have as little overlap as possible.

^^ Add to that quality of crops in area of affect as well as frequently harvesting crops.
