How long can a chicken live in a crate

Postby NewBromance » Sat Jul 09, 2011 3:03 pm

Neither me or my friend have the skills or resources to raise chickens at this point in time, however we just found a cock for the first time and have never seen one before (that sentence sounds wrong out of context)

its going to be a while before we can build a coop, or grow any wheat seeds to feed him, so I was wondering how long can we potentially store him in a crate before he dies.

Like 12 hours? :?

Chickens are pretty easy to find, You shouldn't have a problem finding them another time. They spawn on grass and heath land.

yeha we didnt realise that when we staked our claim, we're a good walk from grassland, so it's a bit of a walk to catch them when we need them haha. No way in hell we're getting what we need up and running in 12 hours tho, so we might as well butcher them. Cheers

Well, you don't NEED crops to feed chickens. You can feed them edible mushrooms and blueberries. However, you do need to find wheat seeds and grow them to get straw before you can even build a coop.

12 hours? really? I thought they don't die in storage... I'm pretty sure I've stored them for longer before, but I may be mistaken.

No, they'll die in storage. It is more than 12 hours, but I don't think it's as long as 3 days. (Maybe 3 game days, so about 24 hours.) They lose Q every hour they don't eat, though.

I think you can also feed them elm boughs. Or is that just for cattle?
