mining levels security

Postby Eemerald » Mon Jul 11, 2011 11:24 pm

so after the raid on my village due to attempting level 1 mining and not finishing securing the walls, i'm slightly worried about doing this to level 2.

brickwall has been completed now, so the first level is secure. if we were to mine down further, to level 2, and didnt immedietly have a brickwall in place, could people get across the brickwall in level 1? so that they can reach the village? or is that not possible?

i dont want to make the same mistake as before and allow an oppertunity for raiders and griefers

One of my advice is to brick wall the surface around the mine hole and have a crossroad that leads into the brick wall or level 1 mine. From there you can continually re-securing lower levels as well. The real advice I can offer, however, is to not have a mine hole in your main village in the first place but it is too late for that.

level 1 means for u cave level?if yes u dont need to secure the second level. You can do that later, theres a small chance that somebody will even manage to mine to your minehole.

Learned the hard way that with so many flawed mechanics minehole inside the village probably not a good idea, but brickwalled both top and bottom is good.

It's much harder to patrol both surface and mine layer especially considering that you generally do not go to the mine level to forage for curiosities. In otherwords, mine-holes are for mining outposts only. I am starting to feel that the world 3 mining system is better. Although there are some exploits for the world 3 system, it's nowhere as bad as tracking on the surface of a level 5 vault surrounded by walls and supports.
