sword quality

Hi,

I'm guessing its

(2x avg metal + hammer + anvil)/4

For the militia/soldiers sword, does the block q matter though?

All materials count in all recipes. (Exception: A Wonderful Dream never counts in recipes.) You're on the right path, but it's "average of materials" instead of "avg metal". (The wooden handle adds weight and thus would have an effect on balance and grip.)

Thanks Magic -

Is that true? for example, the wiki says that the wood for metal grinders doesn't matter... or is it different for Build items as supposed to Craft items?

Also, how is the average taken - because for the Pickaxe, the wiki says:

q Pickaxe = (2*rounded Down((av. q metal + q branch)/2) + q Anvil + q Smithy's Hammer)/4

which would be different from (2*(average MatQ)+ AnvilQ+HammerQ)/4, since there are 4 bars and only 1 branch. The actual formula ^ makes the branch count for much more. I'm guessing that thats how its done for the sword as well, i'll test and find out :P

There are a couple of exceptions for constructions. They're usually indicated on the wiki. There may even be a few exceptions (other than the dream example) that don't count certain materials.

Yeah, I stated that a bit wrong to make it clear to new players, but for HnH, "average material quality" is usually (avg item 1 + avg item 2 + ... + avg item n) / n. Some formulas do have one material weighted more, though, such as saws (weight of 5 for the blade material).
