Does quality affect decay rate?

It does not.

Just asking here instead of making another quality thread.

How's quality calculated for cutting boards? I just sawed up q25 boards and can't figure out how that happened. q10 tree (I assume), q105 saw, 21 carpentry.

136/3=45

I've subbed in things like dexterity and survival, and nothing comes out close to 25. Any ideas?

I'm not entirely sure either, but I think its something to do with carpentry, because I could saw up q32 boards with that same saw.

Just want to know what I should raise that would give the best effect. Can't seem to find an equation that matches up. Even if I just play musical chairs with the numbers.

There's probably a less obvious equation going on. Maybe one that limits the effectiveness of the tool if the related skill is comparatively bad.

It's not an even average. it's been stated that different things will have different weight on influencign the quality. Tools always have less effect upon the quality than the actual materials.

related question - does the quality of repair materials affect the quality of the item being repaired?
