I keep burning my pies...

Postby SaintGilbert » Thu Jul 14, 2011 8:53 am

I only put three sticks into the oven, then the pies.

What the hell am I doing wrong? It seems to have a half-and-half chance of either cooking properly, or turning into a putrid pile of ash I can't use.

On a side note, is there a stick-to-block ratio for burning wood?

Anything put into the ovens begins to acquire "ticks" toward completion, so make sure to light them immediately after putting the pies in and they should stop burning.

Let the doughs sit in oven for 15 minutes, light with one branch.

You are experiencing the General Fuel Glitch.

The reason they're turning to ash is because dough begins "cooking" the moment you put it in the oven, whether the oven is lit or not. You can use this to your advantage to save on branches. If you follow potjeh's post, there's no way to accidentally create ash.

This also works with clay. Place planter's pots and teapots in the kiln, and let them sit a while, then they'll finish cooking with 1 fuel.

It works with everything that has to be 'cooked' other than steel.

How many branches does one block of wood burn?

1 block = 2 ticks
1 branch = 1 tick

Is that what you mean?
