How do i make a mine support?

So, ive been getting my skills up getting ready to mine, but i cant seem to find mine support in my build menu, and i understand you need them to mine safely, how can i make one?

you need to discover nugget of metal (block of wood too, but that probably you have already discovered)
also you need to have mining skill

They use nuggets, making them difficult to really do. You must have metal before you can get metal. Luckily, 1 bar of metal smelts into 10 nuggets, so if you can get ANY metal, you can build a lot of supports and get a lot more metal.

There are two ways of doing this: taking a bar out of a smelter or use the barter (or vending if coins are available) stand to buy a nugget or bar.
