Swords

Postby BruThoL » Fri Jul 22, 2011 6:57 pm

Yop.

Saw on wiki that bronze sword deals 325 base damage.

What is this base damage?
How does Melee Combat modify that?

I think I know well how works unarmed combat, but i don't know how works melee.
Does it act with Strength?

Could someone details all the applications of this in details?

Thanks.

The quality of the sword and your str are used to determine the bonus on the damage you deal. There is a formula on this on the wiki, go find it and learn how to answer your own questions. That's what the wiki is for.

Melee Combat

Affects the effectiveness of moves in combat whose weights are affected by Melee Combat while fighting with weapons such as Stone axe, Battleaxe of the Twelfth Bay, Militia Sword and Soldier's Sword. e.g. Sting, Valorous Strike.
Also affects the chance of blocking with shield.
source : wiki.

Bronze Sword
A bronze sword deals 325 base damage.
How to Acquire
You need to equip a smithy's hammer and you need an anvil to make a bronze sword.
source : wiki.

I didn't actually find it, and it seems quite obvious, else I wouldn't ask the question.
So clean up the wiki to be easiest to understand or answer the question. That's what the "How do I" part of the forum is for.

Melee combat doesn't modify damage at all. Neither does unarmed. They just determine how much defense you have and how much defense you can break. These are essential to actually deal damage but don't matter in the least.

I remember there being a lot of debate on whether the formula for melee damage was accurate or not so I'm not even going to speculate what it definitively is but the quality of your weapon matters a lot, as does your strength.
General rule is Damage*Sqrt(Quality/10), so q10 does 325*1, q40 does 325*2, q90 does 325*3, etc. etc..
