Silkmoths

How long does it take for silkmoth to die? Will it still die if I put it in a container? The wiki just says they have a lifetime timer.

They die after roughly 24 hours. They'll die whether in your inventory, in your hand, or in a container.

i think it may be 24 in game hours cause i had the same thing happen =\.

The wiki says they take 24 in-game hours to mate. If they die in 24 in-game hours then its impossible to get them to mate. It appears that the wiki is wrong.

not really, the moment they mate they die. if there is no mate for moth then it dies without mating (no eggs). if there is mate for moth then it dies and random number of eggs (no more then 10 IIRC) appears.
for example: if you've got male silkmoth caught 20 in-game hours ago and you put freshly caught female silkmoth into the same container then in 4 in-game hours they both die and random number of eggs appears.

At 24 game hours, the moths die. If there is a mate, then eggs appear. If there is no mate, then they just die.

The wiki is 100% correct on silk moths and production. (Again, typical disclaimer about wiki vandalism, etc etc.)
