Silver/gold rarity

So.. I think I'm going to wander around prospecting for silver, but I was wondering -

(1) does it occur on all levels?

(2) Anyone know how much rarer the veins are than iron/copper/tin? Approximately

(3) Are silver veins normally smaller than common metal veins?

Also, I guess there are probably only a few gold veins in the whole world, but if someone has an estimate of gold rarity that would be cool too

Can't speak towards gold but the one silver vein I got to mine was nothing short of huge. When it had been mined out, you could fit a nice little town in the area the silver took up.

The point being that at least size wise, they seem to be random.....

What level was this silver mine on? First cave layer?

Also, for reference, we've been prospecting our non-disclosed local area, and found 3 copper veins and 1 tin. No iron, silver, or gold yet. Probably not statistically relevant, just reporting.

I know Silver is found on 2nd layer and lower.

Gold... I'm not 100% sure but I think it might be 3/4rd layer and lower.

As for the size of the veins, It seems pretty independent, almost random. Its not uncommon find silver and then find another layer of silver below it.

Yeah, another thing I wonder is if the layers are connected - I know I've found tin beneath tin, copper *nearly* beneath copper, and two different iron mines with iron on 3 different layers...

However, no precious metals yet...
