Aurochs in the village (problem taming)

Postby pwpsp » Sun Jul 24, 2011 10:30 pm

So basically two wild cows spawned in the village I reside in, and I made multiple attempts as well as a few others to tame them. We got the tamness to 20, but they would never aggro us a second time so we couldn't continue. We tried doing them both at the same time, one at a time, we would reset everything we did by fleeing and what not. Nothing worked. I thought they were bugged, but it just doesn't make sense.

What am I missing ?

I recommend you to take both ropes, and do the taming alone.

Just do one at a time until you understand what you're doing. Follow the guide to the letter, and everything should work. If you screw up, restart. nothing wrong with that. Make sure you only try to tame the same aurochs every time. IF you feel like it's necessary or don't want to take the time, you have to have two ropes to tame more than one animal at a time, or you bug it up and have to restart with all of them. The only way to reset that I'm aware is by causing a map change: going in a house or a cave/mine.

First of all, "lol" because "auroch spawned in the village". I wish this would happen to me. BRB planting grass.

Second, never tame in a group, or do so very far apart. If you're going to have more than one person taming, lure part of the herd VERY far away. Then, only the person in the local taming should be allowed to act. No one else should ever aggro the herd (including the non-taming auroch that are nearby) while a taming is in progress. Just, one person in action at a given time, or else things don't quite work. I've never had a solo taming mess up, even against a dozen auroch over 7 hours (why did I think that was a good idea?). I've very rarely had a group taming work at all.

Ah, probably Bruthol and Girlinhat are right.

My guess is that when person A is taming one animal, and person B starts taming other animal in the same herd, then whole herd aggros on person B (including animal tamed by person A), effectively resetting taming progress for person A.
