Can you destroy a bonfire?

They seem structurally similar to mineholes, being that they really aren't much except for a lack of things in that area. Or at least more similar than different, I suppose... Either way, can you destroy a bonfire by hand, or do they get special rules?

IIRC you can break them by hand they just have quite a strength requirement to do so. I think I've had to break them in W3 and W4 due to poor placement but it was long enough ago that my memory is entirely fuzzy~!
