Outrunning a Troll

Postby Girlinhat » Sat Jul 30, 2011 7:03 am

Let's say... hypothetically... that I was mining some, and got some god-awful luck, and managed to attract a troll a mere dozen tiles into a vein. Let's say, hypothetically of course, that I'm partially safe behind an odd rock formation at this moment. Now, if I proceeded to run from this troll, trying to lure it into water and pelt it with a sling to harvest delicious troll corpse, what would be my purely hypothetical chances of outrunning it be? How fast do they move?

Fox speed if I am not mistaken, that means you need sprint speed to outrun it. Also is the water shallow? You may want to get spawn some disposable alts to corpse trap it. Be warned that corpses later about 1 hour before they decay into skeleton in which the troll can destroy. What level did you spawn the troll?

An enemy will only fight if he believes he either has a chance to win, or you've backed him into a corner and he's fighting for his life. A completely crushing victory provides an enemy with neither.

Hypothetically, you'd be fucked. Non-metaphorically and quite literally.

Trolls: another good reason for mining alts.

Lol, the chances of you finding a troll is like, finding a chest filled with steel bars in the middle of the forest.

Correction: they are more likely to appear when you do not want them but rarely do when you don't.

wiki says 1%

I found 2 ant empresses in a row and wiki says theyre 3%

1% chance of permadeath every time I knock down a wall = donotwant.jpg

And the wiki is very wrong. I've mined somewhere around 22,600 tiles out on L1, around 11,000 on L2, and anywhere between 2,000 and 4,000 on layers 3, 4, and 5. The chance of a troll spawning is more like 0.00001%. It's extremely low, and it's worth your character dying. Unless you're retarded, and you're in a crappy village, and nobody in your village can craft q300 troll tools.
