Tricks that not everybody knows.

So with permission from the rest of my villages, I am going to post some methods that are may not be common knowledge. It is no guarantee though if they are useful to you or not or if you did not know them already though.

  • Using 4 cupboards to sort seeds and when you are done, put them back in a cart to prevent destruction from a decay hit.
  • Using barter stand for discovery purposes if you lack a particular material knowledge such as wrought. Note this only works for items that can be placed into barter stands
  • Using barter stand for storage. Honestly, barter strand, with its lack of securities aren't really much useful for anything else.
  • When performing task that involves a pick axe or a shovel, you can unequip the tool and equip two traveler sacks. This allows you to obtain additional inventory space while retaining your work speed.
  • Using building signs for storing common building materials: Primary minestones for stones, brickwall cornerpost for bricks, banners for linen, palisade for blocks, carts for boards, etc
  • Carry a cauldron in a boat for pearl hunting
  • Carry a meat grinder and LC in a boat for sausage hunting.
  • If you don't have a method of shorting items from lowest to highest: shift mouse wheel your inventory into a cupboard , then release the shift key and mouse wheel it back into your inventory.
  • Farmwise: Shift planting will select the last item that went into your inventory so if you used shift click, it will select the lowest quality. You can reverse this with the above method.
  • Gatetrapping Cows: Create a roundpole gate, then destroy the cornerpost. This lets you move a cow into the gate and then closing it on its hitbox to prevent its movement but still allows you to interact with it. If you want it to be breedable, its has to be barely inside the gate's hitbox.
  • Troll shield: Cellar boulders have no HP thus cannot be destroyed by trolls, set up boulders walls that allows entrance at any direction by placing a boulder on every other tile of the wall. Also recommended to having boulders insider of the wall for slinging purposes as you don't want to compromise the safety of your wall by depleting your cellar boulder.

Only works on cellar boulders, not actual stones.

Troll Siheld will be fixed eventually and trolls will grab boulders and throw them at you, be warned.

Thanks for the correction as well as the heads up. What about mining?

Trolls throwing boulders.
Shiiiiiiiit~

I've used the mobile meat grinder before, works especially well with cow chuziros and boar bologna, as they only need the 1 meat type.

Also: At a very specific angle, you can walk between diagonally placed signposts, while animals cannot, allowing you to enter and leave a herd of trapped auroch more easily.

Chairs work as a makeshift gate - auroch/mouflon cannot destroy chairs, while you can sit and exit it to pass through it like a gate.

In general, signposts that have small hitboxes such as baskets and banners can be walked through while allowing you contain your livestocks during breeding sessions or taming sessions with aurochsen or mouflons. Just keep in mind that both animals have unarmed combat of 75 which means you need at least 19 defensive weight to not suffer a blow with full defense meter (assuming you are not moving) at their intial attack. Animals only atack if they have at least 75% meter.

Wasn't that changed in W4 and W5? If your defensive weight is <10% they will attack you immediately with only a sliver of their attack bar.

In normal circumstances it is 75% but if your defense meter is low, they will attack. I'm not entirely sure what is the formula that will cause them to trigger another attack though but I'm fairly confident it is not ratio based but amount based. Also that change was actually made in world 4, not world 5.
