Unarmed or melee?

i started not long ago but i already started earning decent LP by raiding hills and lots of luck and got the core melee skills(militia training,will to power, etc) up to Soldiers training and i wanted to ask the more advanced players/vets on what i should do as beginner.
Unarmed or melee.
im currently alone and have no access to any type of metal.
and the only armor i can make is leather armor wich will take alot of time since making leather itself is time consuming.

It seems the game wants you to do unarmed until you have access to metal, then switch to melee.

personally I think melee is better than Ua for the only fact you have gear that enhances melee out the wazoo(thane rings, D helms, and prolly other things i am missing)


so unless they recently nerfed the amount them items can buff your melee, i would suggest go melee, with some UA thrown in.

i dont think ill have metal anytime soon.
im alone and the mines costs are crazy for me plus they all require different proffesions and time to make x_x.

my goal to make Bears fear me lil lvl 10 axe.


my goal in world 3 was to kill a lvl 10 bear with UA, after i did that, i wanted to 1 shot a bear with my "knock da teeth out" blow. but then i discovered the wonderful world of rings and helmets, and was mondo pissed that i could get like 150+ melee with 2 thane rings(not best q either) in W3.

guess ill have to find a way to get a sword later on then.

There was a huge discussion on this recently. Nobody is going to repeat what was said in the other thread, and nothing in-game has changed. Use search and do some digging. (fyi, use Google for searches, not the forum search tool.)

Swords are cheap. Go Unarmed mostly. That's the short hand of it. If you were a master at combat and intricately knew the system, Melee might be potentially better for you.

Otherwise use unarmed and practice your Maneuvers, Moves, and Special Moves.

i actually see UAC as the true skilled combat

UAC is definitely something to marvel at but I have heard those who I truly admire in combat claim that they can surpass uac with melee. I trust their claims and actions enough that I will believe with melee you can strike down someone far superior to yourself given the right combination of moves and special moves in the proper sequences.
