i was actually wondering if coins are actually used for trades between villages.
they do have their own uses if you are short of metal(100=1ingot 10=piece or whatever its called)

Almost nobody uses them. Although they have been used in the past worlds... I think Buyan market used coins.

Maybe they will be used more in the future of W5.

Some villages have been known to use a coin currency, but that was basically inside their own village and had no value outside of it. Nowadays people use a point system where certain items at a certain quality are worth so many points. It's a bit more flexible.

You need incentive to support a coin based market. Sure metal is always valuable now and acts as pretty damn good curios at higher qualities but due to lack of security it's ineffective. Walls protect nothing and stealing from stalls with an alt is all too easy, just to hide it on another alt until the scents die away. If all you're going to get at stalls is theft then you'll never see the profit necessary to get you to open up trade.

When the world is a bit safer and some merchants get bold, we'll see it happen. A huge set back to this is that players like Sabinati and DatOneGuy, legendary traders in the HnH world, have quit for the time being. Without adventurous profit-seekers like them pushing for an established economy we're going to see a stunted trade climate until someone else musters the power and reputation to pull it off.

Look in the trade thread. Nobody is going to look or ask for you.

Not many villages are selling metal anymore considering that nodes are limited and new ones have to be found which involves effort. That was different in past worlds.

It isn't that hard to mine small amounts of low q metal yourself. You just have to find a cave and then keep trying to dig the walls until you find ore. A bearcape and beartalisman will help you as well as a decent axe. With the found metal you can then build supports and crat a pickaxe to make your mining operation a bit bigger. Also note you have to be full industry to get worthwhile results from the ores.

i have to make a mineshaft right?
the mineshaft alone needs: Block of Wood x300, Board x40, Rope x20, Hardened Leather x10, Leather x20
then comes the bear cape and talisman you mention,i dont even have enough STR/UAC for killing ants.

You don't have to make a mineshaft. Just try to discover a cave entrance in one of the ridges that run through the woods.

Bears you best hunt with a sling as a newbie. Use a boat, shoot at the bear from the river. Your damage should be low enough so he will never run away from you. It will take a while, but the results are worth it :)
