hunting from boat

Postby goodyman8 » Tue Aug 09, 2011 4:06 pm

i had a small question.
i want to go melee later on,but for now im too weak.
would it be smart if i get the Archery skill (withouth ranking MM) and try to hunt animals from the riverside(boars etc).
and later go melee again.

Just stick with Hunting and use a sling (no need for archery to use MM). But yes, boat hunting is a great way to start no matter how you plan to hunt.

Archery isn't necessary to hunt with. It just opens up the use of bows, which you shouldn't mess with until you get a good quality one--q40+--and can keep the same quality arrows supplied. Stick with a sling until you hit around 50-60 MM, then you can think about a bow.

Easier to replace stones than to replace arrows.

What kind of place will you be hunting like that? If you are really worried bring a container of stones in your boat.

Unlike previous worlds you don't get LP from kills so it's no problem to break combat and come back.

well, there are rarely enemies on riverside and trying to lure them is a bit risky.
so i was thinking itd be better if i attacked enemies i encountered while foraging with a boat.

When you wear a quiver you can't use a backpack, so archery would be worse for foraging. I bow hunt on land, so trust me. =3

Collect them. The hunter obviously didn't want them.

edit: The village probably has cows better quality than this now and they get enough bear bones they don't need them.

Bones have quite a few uses, but antlers can be used to build a village, make cutlery, and as a (bad) curio. I study them all the time cuz I'm lazy. XD
