Moving

Postby Avo1 » Thu Aug 11, 2011 7:08 am

Im looking at picking up and moving my cabin Im wondering if there's a good way to compact my stuff? I already crammed my seeds into seedbags and put on a backpack, but i still have more i want to carry. Mostly carrots and the like that cant be crammed into a seed bag. Anyone have any tips? thanks!

You can put 2 containers inside a boat. And if that's not enough you can carry another boat while sailing. That's 4 containers filled with stuff.
Also, you can teleport easily if you make village claim in the new place, but I guess that's not a possibility for you?

Just pack light. Take the bare minimum in valuables with you. Ideally no more than a backpack full of leather, bone glue, seeds, etc..
If you can, use bigger crates than wooden crates. Never use wicker baskets.

Thanks! Making a village claim sadly isn't a possibility, or i could have phased over to it slowly and brought all my shinies. I'm trying to pack it light enough that i can move it, but im hoping to move somewhere without plentiful food. Im hoping Its a good way to keep other players away from you long enough to develop. Thanks for the tips though. Ill try the boat trick.

Edit: Another quick question that probably doesn't warrant its own thread. Whats a good way to get a lot of clay fast? You can only dig one clay from a node a pit at once it seems, so coming up with enough for a kiln or oven is proving difficult.

Depending on how new you are and where your heading to can determine how much you pack. If possible use coffers, which take rope, bone glue, leather, and planks since they hold more and a lot more durrable than crates. If you are moving over land only build a cart if possible. You can also carry a boat while pulling a cart but it depends on how important speed and your valuables are to you. Like others said you can carry a boat while sailing in a boat so either way, land or sea you should have a minimum of 2 coffers (1 filled boat, incase you have to go over multiple rivers and cannot carry 2 boats with you).

Edit: If you are only getting 1 piece of clay it is usually Q10 and not on a node. You have to know that just because it's a mudflat, it won't always be a clay node, but curiosities will grow on it whether it is a node or not. When you find a node, usually the clay will be above Q10 and you can dig multiple amounts of clay until it slowly degrades to Q10 and then stops giving you clay until it restores. Having a good source of clay nearby is highly recommended.

A cave if you can find one. Otherwise in-land grassland is really good.
