Village Renaming.

Okay, just checking up, to rename a village, you have to wait for the authority to go below 50k, destroy the totem, then erect a new one? Is there an easier way or does all the villagers have to leave for a time if they want to gain lp?

In w4 AD was able to destroy their idol with a battering ram. I don't know if that still works though but maybe?
I'm also surprised the Chief and Lawspeaker don't have the ability to destroy it.
