can i move a animal using a crossroad?

So my question is can i use a crossroad to move a cow or sheep or does it have to be done manually by dragging it with a leash?

Reason for asking this is because my village chieftain and LS told me they are quitting the game due to IRL issues. And well I am outside the village on my own plot of land while the animals are inside the village walls. So as I am the only one left active I wanted to take the cows/sheep and raise them since they are better than freshly caught ones.

Hope someone can respond to this, and search function is a pain in the ass to use for something like this so thats why I am making a new thread.
