Dummy Village Idol

In Sevenless' superb beginners guide he mentions in the mining section about setting up dummy village idols in order to set up cross roads on each level of the mine.

Can someone explain to me in some more detail how this is done?

The same way you build a village on top, pave 3 squares and place the idol. Then just use it for cross roads

Okay I'm being thick here. So I have my village claim on ground level.

I build another Village Idol/Claim on level 1 and another on levels 2,3,4 & 5( lol when I get that far) using the materials that are needed each time for an idol.

Does thst mean I'm in 6 villages? surely not possible. Or is it you don't waot the 24 hours to activate the idol but are still able to build a crossroads to take the sign to your original village and put it on your post?

Usually you setup an alt to build the village claim. Its primary purpose is just have crossroads there so you don't really need to maintain the dummy village idols. So your main character and everyone else will be in the real village while the alt is in the dummy village.

Probably should post some words of advice, too.

If you're just going to have a dummy village idol up with no Authority in it, make sure it is well protected. This probably isn't going to be much of an issue below level one, but it's very easy to tunnel through on level one. Anyone out to cause problems could destroy the idol or take lawspeaker.

I'm not sure how much it's needed, but there could be potential threats to be accounted for. I'm sure there are others, but it's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

Isn't it easier to just destroy the idol after building cornerpost?

Seems a lot of hassle for the convenience of porting to a level of a mine.

Security was also a concern as highlighted by Magicman so how hard is it to destroy the idol if that is the way to go?

Once a village is under 50k Authority, anyone who can visibly see the Idol + has the Lawspeaking skill can claim Lawspeaker. (They must first forfeit Lawspeaker/Chieftain of any village they are currently part of first)

And yes, this will outrank anyone currently the LS of the village with <50k Auth.

Are you sure about that? I could not become the LS of a village below 50k Auth, which had a LS already.
I think you can only become LS if the village doesn't have one already
