Where is the best SG to be a hermit in?

Technically, I won't be a hermit...but it will only be with 5 of my friends. The thing is, they don't play games very much, so they'll probably only log on every few days. So, I'll probably mostly be a hermit.

Anyway...I traveled to the center supergrid, but it seemed kind of busy. I came from the north western area, but it was really crowded and everyone wanted to kill me. I'll have that problem everywhere, but it seemed the further south I went, the friendlier the people were. Or maybe it was just the people I happened to meet.

I came upon what looks to be a remnant of a huge village, and looking at the map, it looks like it is Roadville. I kept moving, because I saw a lot of Russian runestones and Russians always want to kill you. At least, the ones I met up in the NW area do. Roadville sure looked neat though, but I didn't see anyone around. I didn't take anything from them, I figured it was a historic site now. I dunno if I want to make my home there, though. I thought maybe it would be cool to spruce up the place again and "renovate" it...but I dunno. I heard a few people still live there, but it is on the map and it probably gets visited a lot. I just want to be left alone with my friends. I do like the thought of restoring a part of it, but I don't want to keep being visited and killed by people. On the bright side,I heard there be a huge cave system there and supposedly there is a lot of metals to be found. Again, probably really dangerous though for a hermit.

Now, after looking at the map...most of the southwest area is almost not used at all. I see almost no signs of civilization out that way. I don't know when that was updated, but it looks to be the best spot to be a hermit (with maybe a small group of friends)...is that true?

Map is pretty outdated, in many cases for at least 3-4 months.

I don't really know any other supergrids, so can't compare.
But I believe that areas on supergrid corners should be pretty peaceful. Usually they are far away from rivers (or at least at rivers' dead ends), deep in the forest, where noone goes. This would surely make it harder to use boats, but if you can place village totem and use crossroads to teleport to water - it might help

nope.

there is no such SG to be a hermit safely without taking any cautions on this world.
even if there is, such SG will be griefed sooner or later once it is revealed so on the forums.
there are lots of people who just shut up about being raided and either quit or move on. the map is not updated at all lately.
many abandoned villages are targets of cheap thieves, and some of them just break in, assuming its abandoned.

also, Roadville is a russian village with some russian players who insist they play there peacefully.
russians dont always want to kill you, but some do, and not only russians who want to kill you.

if you want to be left alone, choose a different game or play wise.

Hello Vendayn,

I'm pretty new in this game (~3 weeks) and a hermit too.
I live in a very peaceful area. There is nobody active
around (and I travel a lot). The next populated spaces
are separated by rivers, but people with boats don't
walk till my spot.

So it seems pretty save and peaceful. If you want to
create a new character you can port it to me. I'll
give you some seeds and food, if you need.

Thanks for the responses. I heard hermit playing was possible, and being able to play with a few friends. I guess I'll keep traveling SE and see what I find...didn't know the map was so outdated. On the bright side, at least since I passed Roadville, I know where I am on the map.

As for the teleporting offer, I think I'll just travel. Thanks, though.

Also, Roadville is still active then? I explored their ruins, but didn't see anyone on. Or is it only just a few people left?

southwest sg is pretty peaceful
move to west from roadville, there is a lot of free space in 20-40min
there is also my village, i can help you with some stuff and protection
