Roads and Forest expansion.

Do forests expand across roads? I'm wondering if you could "Road off" grasslands to keep forests from regrowing there.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

a growing tree will generate forest tiles on the road

But will forest tiles "Cross" roads in order to expand?
I believe growing trees will also generate forest tiles on WATER, but I'm unsure if that was fixed or not.

I asked Jorb if stone tiles decay and he said they don't, unlike plowed tiles. But from what i've heard forest tiles ignore stone tiles OR plowed tiles simply turn back into what it was before plowing. I think it's the latter.
