The system is kinda fucked up there. Actually you'd need to make a hf with an alt where your place is, and not play it. So when you die, you can set his hearth secret, and spawn there with your fresh char.
That's wrong, see below.
Do you know the coords of your place?

You don't need HS to respawn. Just use reincarnation if you haven't already. When you create new char there should be runestone on the left side os starting room. There you should be able to choose your previous (dead) character as an ancestor. After you do so new passage should be open, allowing you to spawn at the ancestor's HF. His claim will also automatically be given to you.
However, if you used reincarnation already and chose to spawn in the wild... well you can't go back or use reincarnation again
What they said. When you're in the new character room, off to the left side there's a Runestone which will have the name of whatever character died. Click the Inherit button and you will receive a percentage of the LP you gained on that character depending on what his Tradition/Change was.
When you've successfully inherited your dead character, you can simply leave via the ladder and you will arrive back at his old hearth fire. You will have the claim under your control and for the most part you can still increase the size of the claim even without Yeomanry, you just can't create a new claim until you buy the skill again, so don't go de-claiming your land until you have Yeomanry.
If your current character gets killed then you will be able to only inherit this character, not your first one. This means that there is no longer any way to inherit first character, nor spawn on its HF. Only on the HF of your current char
