Swimming

Postby Grable » Mon Sep 05, 2011 8:01 am

From Wiki:

A character with 10 constitution and a full stamina bar, can only cross 10 tiles safely before drowning.

Can I assume that 20 constitution equals swimming over 20 tiles safely and so on? (with full stamina ofc)

Or is it different?

Not sure but unless you have at least 30 stamina, don't even try it.

I was kind curious myself on this topic...

What's the ratio for const - tiles for swimming?

Of course I won't try to prove it, but I just like to know....

I have over 30 stamina, and I know the wiki says that too. I'm interested in more info (const/tile), swimming isn't exactly something you want to joke around with.

It's hard to do any considerable amount of testing to figure it out exactly. I can say that if you click across the river and start drinking water beforehand, you will continue drinking as you cross. If you absolutely must cross, it does help a lot. You'll want to drain your stam bar down to about 70-75% before doing this though.

I remember searching awhile back, I think TeckXKnight was working on it for awhile. Here we go. Found a thread that might have some numbers in it. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16100

I'm not too sure how up-to-date it is.

jorb once stated not to try it without 40 con, but i think that might have been before the update. best thing to do is be able to drink while you do it, (you have to open the menu before you open the menu) and/or buy a ferryman ring just in case :)

also ill help look for the tile/con ratio because im quite interested as well

The wiki is completely wrong here. It's not 10 tiles, but 10 integral coordinates, which I believe is just one tile. You should be able to cross a narrow river with around 30-40 con, but you had best know what you're doing... i.e. make sure you take the shortest route possible and don't try to maneuver in the water, just click the opposite shore.

Actually since w4/5 you can cross narrow rivers with 10 con. Recently seen it with fresh alts. Don't ask me about some kind of formula though.

I have noticed that myself. I made it over half a narrow river with 10 cons char when I tried to suicide him. So I'm pretty sure it's not 10 cons = 1 tile.

I probably should have stated my post above differently. I probably should have also added more information. I'm just not sure of a better way to word it, though. Swimming is still based on the integral coordinates, though, from what I can tell.

No, but it's certainly not 10 tiles, either. "Narrow river" usually means 4-6 tiles wide (the banks that can be waded in don't count).
