death for no reason?

Me and another player were near a boar. The boar knocked me out. When the boar was about to attack the other player he did a spell or something and the boar stopped going towards him and at the same time I died with 99 HHP still left. What happened?

EDIT: also the spell looked like black particles around the player

The animal does something, and you die.

Gee, I wonder what could have happened?
Obviously, your character choked on a muffin.

You are all wrong. Obviously Jorb brought windchimes back into the game and hid one behind a tree close to this player.
