Ferryman ring

Ok, so if I wear the ring so I don't drown...
Im in a boat, and someone destroys my boat...now I'm swimming....

Does getting your boat bashed negate the ring? Or what happens?

No. Drown anyway you like, It doesn't make any difference.

I think he means that if his boat is bashed and sunk, after/if he drowns, would he be ported back to the place he entered the water? (because in this case, he would be ported back to the middle of the lake?
