So many questions :) (Also WTB Server Software Bins)

Postby KaneHart » Sun Sep 11, 2011 3:46 am

First off lack of youtube videos makes this game hard to understand so if it's my cup of Tea expect at least 10+ episodes :)

I'm going to ask questions might be asked a lot I'm half awake here and please forgive me hopefully this is a good test to see what kind of community we have here as well :)

1) What kind of leveling system is their? From the sounds of it... It's skill based like cooking etc? str?

2) From the looks of it you can build cities. Can you give access or permissions to friend or a clan to the city and build something together?

3) How big can cities get is their a max size? How many cities can you have?

4) I hear AI can attack cities and steal or is this just players only? I hear their is a way to defend against this and how does say a wall prevent a player from stealing?

5) How big is the world? Can I run 100 miles away and get lost and no one can find me? Is their a map or can players keep well hidden and just have to use memory and maybe coordinates?

6) Can you play this game slightly like simcity/farmville yes I'm using the nasty game as an example even though I like the idea of it but only inside another game hehe.

7) what other things can you do besides build, harvest is their? pve I assume and pvp?

8) Another leveling question can you max out everything or has anyone maxed out everything yet?

Please as you can see by my questions maybe you can offer some answers to questions I have not asked something that really attracted you to this game.

Thanks,
Kane Hart

Just saw a picture back from Jan. Looks cool though does not seam as fun as the 2D mmorpg. Though who knows will have to wait and really see.

Yeah Godcraft is getting pretty darn big hehe everyone has tried it now. But yeah we like to expand our family and not just be doing Minecraft but run other game shards also like H&H sounds like a wonderful game to run for a small community. But not sure if they have publishers and such they could never come away from or if they be interested at all. I'm not rich but maybe a worthy donation to keep them drunk would be enough for them hehe.

I just edited my topic just in case if they spot it hehe.

Tbh I think you could prob buy it off em for a reasonable price, I mean they don't seem to be fussed with haven and hearth lately plus Salem seems to be quite a big deal to em...

1) What kind of leveling system is their? From the sounds of it... It's skill based like cooking etc? str?

Not really a simple answer, there are 2 ways you "level up" in this game, by eating food and by discovering/studying items (mostly studying)
Eating food gives you Food Event Points (FEP) that levels your base attributes, studying items gives you Learning Points that you can spend to buy skills and increase your Skill Values.

what skills you should get and foods you should eat is up to you, read the wikia for more info on specific items.

2) From the looks of it you can build cities. Can you give access or permissions to friend or a clan to the city and build something together?

Yes you can make a city and have multiple players all living together, think there is a topic somewhere explaining how if not you can look up "stake claim" or "village claim" on the wikia, that might help.

3) How big can cities get is their a max size? How many cities can you have?

As far as I know there is not a mix size, you can only be part of one village at a time but can change to different village as often as you like for the cost of 30K Authority to the village you leave (see village claim wikia for more info)

4) I hear AI can attack cities and steal or is this just players only? I hear their is a way to defend against this and how does say a wall prevent a player from stealing?

only thing that can attack your village and steal you stuff is other players (PvP)

for info on walls see "Palisade" and "Brick wall" on the wikia (Also "Battering Ram" could help)

5) How big is the world? Can I run 100 miles away and get lost and no one can find me? Is their a map or can players keep well hidden and just have to use memory and maybe coordinates?

http://www.algeralith.info/HavenMap/ is the world as we know it, takes about 10 hours to go from one side to the other by my experience.

6) Can you play this game slightly like simcity/farmville yes I'm using the nasty game as an example even though I like the idea of it but only inside another game hehe.

you will not be playing this game for long you you play it like farmville, good number of people make a point to go around and ruin other peoples day that think this is anything like simcity/farmville.

7) what other things can you do besides build, harvest is their? pve I assume and pvp?

Yes and Yes. there are animals to hunt (PvE) and players that you can kill/be killed by, most of the time be killed by, the combat system has a steep learning curb.

oh and stay away from bears and bores if you want to stay alive, you can thank me latter...

8) Another leveling question can you max out everything or has anyone maxed out everything yet?

There is no max but some skills are useless to level beyond a point.

helpful links:

http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Haven_and_Hearth_Wiki Outdated but I found it vary useful when just starting out.

http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Haven_and_Hearth_Wiki Less outdated, will have more info that you might not find on the wikia.

http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3196 if you have not read this yet it will help. :)

PS: Oh your 'That' Kane, cool I am a member or your terraria forum, hope some of this helps.

PS PS: I would love to get the server software for this, only have a 60 gigabyte cap (Canada got to love it...) and playing this game uses most of it, would like to be able to play off the grid from time to time. :)

That map barely has anything. Why are there 2 maps?
