Two (unrelated) questions about Honey and Ore Quality.

Postby nehcnhoj » Sun Sep 11, 2011 12:51 pm

- Is the quantity of honey harvested affected by the nature/industry slider?

- Is there anyway to steadily increase metal quality besides digging at deeper levels? Is it just using good fuel / clay for ore smelter?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about first one but I strongly doubt. I mean, which character nature slider should be taken into account? The one taking honey out? The one planting crops? The one who built the hive?

As for the metal - There are quality nodes (just like soil) for rock underground. You can try looking for those nodes, and then for veins inside them. But those nodes are pretty rare. Apart from this there is only smelter and fuel quality.

The only exception is iron/wrought iron. When crafting wrought iron from cast iron, there is like 10% chance to increase quality of resulting bar (even if it turns back into cast iron)

With enough bars you might be lucky enough to have a bar:
- succeed with turning into bloom
- fail with turning into wrought iron, but increase quality
for few times in a row.

Not sure if anyone makes any use of this

1) Nope, the amount of honey you get from beehives is determined by the quantity of crops growing within the radius of the beehive. There is speculation about the diversity as well but I can neither confirm nor deny that. Only growing crops too. Fully grown crops offer nothing towards honey production.

2) Everything should be increasing the quality of your metal. Better string (crops), better clay, better soil, better water, better wood, better fuel, better ore, and better bricks. Constantly upgrade your components and grow finer and finer woods as you go. Planters Pots, plant fibers, and fuel are going to be your big pushing factors for metals. As often as you can buy better clay for kilns and to burn into high quality bricks for better smelters. Farming is a pretty key factor in raising metal quality.
