How did this hearthfire get destroyed a *second* time?

Postby min_the_fair » Wed Sep 14, 2011 12:02 am

Hi. So. My neighbour, being usually a nice boy but ... not necessarily all that bright, left some theft scents. I don't know where, but they are not really the story. So he was palibashed and had his hearth fire destroyed, and he was summon killed somewhere. That is not the story either.

There are a lot of theft scents, that I can see with 2500 per*exp, with 7 uses left, that lead pretty clearly in one direction.

The vandalism scent from the palibashing has 14 uses left, and I've got about 90° on that; the fact that I am not really a ranger is not the story either.

On reincarnating yesterday he fixed the hole in the palisade, and rebuilt his hf exactly where the old one was. Today his hf has been bashed again, and he has gone and rebuilt it AGAIN in the same place, so I don't know anything about vandalism scents there. Also today, I'm getting some theft scents (that I can't always see) with 14 uses left, made by the palibasher (seems he wants agility, regardless of quality).

Further details: The whole of the palisaded area is covered by a personal claim. It's also got its own village claim, of which my late neighbour was LS, and now is again. He swears he didn't leave any CR signs lying around in boxes or cupboards, and that all his keys were on an alt. I'm pretty sure he hasn't given anyone signs to the internal CR.

BUT. I'm pretty sure my neighbour, on his main, was the only member of the village. Once he was dead, could the palibasher have temporarily made himself LS of the village? This would explain how he got back to steal food and break a hf without any more palibashing; the only other explanations I could think of involved disguising himself as a chicken or something....

No expert here, just taking a wild guess, but as far as i know, if you log off on a personal claim you cant log back in there? (not 100% sure on that) but what if you log off in a cellar or even a cabin?

Like a mine isnt covered by any claim thats built above it, does it work the same for cellars? if so you could just log off in cellar and log back in later, after pali has been fixed.

no cellars and inside houses are not the same as mines, that is why if you take something it leave scents.

my best guess is that when he killed him the first time he took a key and walked in the front door, try making a new gate.

I think this is quite probable. Probably anyone can become LS once there are no villagers left, even if authority is not below 50k.
The only solution I can see is to destroy CR AND the idol completely, then rebuilt. CR is obvious, but idol - if the guy was LS he could have appointed some of his alts as members and now they can freely port to the idol.

Untrue to become the LS you need to be a member of the village if it is not below 50K.

Even if the village has absolutely no members?
How do you know that?

I know it because I have done it before, you need to be a member of the village to become the LS if it is not below 50K, even if there are no living members. if it is below 50K then anyone can become the LS.

Oh well, I've been meaning to make another village claim for travel purposes anyway, looks like I'll need to do some experimenting with it to see if I can get any answers. Thanks.

Edit on reading M_So's post, hmm, maybe that wasn't it either, I'll see how much authority he had but I thought it should be above 50k. And yeah, I'll check again about the keys.

I'm 90% sure if there are no members of the village left anyone can take LS, otherwise it would be impossible to reclaim ur village after dying if u live alone
