you should get 12 for the cauldron Q but when you plug in:

Clay cauldron halves quality of water. If you had metal cauldron then formula seems incorrect, since instead of ql 15 hardened leather you should get 17 according to formula. But if you had clay cauldron then water ql is not 35, but 17. And then formula is correct

Also you forgot about roundings. Due to roundings you cannot make formula for cauldron.
