Help im stuck!!!

I need help I was in a boat going to my friends place and the game stopped respinding and now that its responding i cant move and the only way for me to get to safety is to log out. but i heard that if i log out while in a boat ill drown plzz help figure our how to get to safety.. why has this game been lagging so much lately?

Edit one: I can chat but my messages won't appear and i tried traveling to hearth fire, its not working

Log out and log back in at your hearthfire.
