How do i find my friends?

Hey guys. I have a friend that i want to meet up with and start out building stuff with. but idk were he is or how to find him. How would i do this?

Just have one of you make a new character and join using your friends hearth secret. It's far easier and faster than trying to track eachother down. If you join a party you can follow your friends portrait towards each other but one or both of you will likely die and the trip will probably take several hours, if not days since you don't have a boat.
