String and LP

What is the best way for a new player who has done all the basic tasks to get some more LP and some string? Ive heard of people getting rediculous stats and don't know how to do it.

There isn't actually an object called string. It refers to spindly taproot, stinging nettle, plant fibers, hide straps and a few more i can't think of.
As for LP, you gain LP mainly by studying curiosities, the discovery is just a way to get things going at the start. Easy curiosities to find at the beginning are ant soldiers, ant queens and empress' (found raiding ant hills), lady's mantle, dandelions, cone cows, itsy bitsy webs, itsy bitsy spiders, seer's bones. Theres alot more i didn't list, but most of the good curios are acquired through foraging at the start.
