Hunting question

Today i just got into hunting and i killed 5 animals, 3 boars and 2 foxes, I noticed that once an animal is almost dead I start missing with my sling ALOT more and this kind of bothers me mostly because the bar fills up kind of slow and they heal. Is this a glitch or is it meant to happen? also I love hunting its like leather making easy but time consuming for now anyways

RNG and it's coincidental. They only heal if they're deer. Otherwise they do not heal.

They only heal if they're deer.

Deer will also heal other animals within their range. Another thing to be noted is that Dryads heal a considerable amount to animals around them, similar to deer.
