Taming

Postby Zachary09 » Tue Sep 20, 2011 3:17 pm

Hey guys. I've got a question on farming leather for a slingshot, for example.
I would like to start hunting animals, and thus i need to make myself a slingshot. How do i make higher Q leather, when I only can chase and kill rabbits, which give away Q10 fur?
I would like to know if Q of Tanning Tub affects my quality of leather. Thus, i'd like to know if there is any softcap except for Marksmanship and Survival on these skins.
Thanks for quick responses ;P
PLUS topic may be misleading, but i've encountered a problem on the paving topic. I have a swamp near my little base, and i am building a palisade.
"Not Enough clearance to pave there"
I guess it's 6 meters away from the swamp to my original cornerpost place.

Another problem is, I cannot pave next to the water. Tho i wanted to have some nice, little paved ground to the water to make my boat trips easier =)
I cannot give any screenshot because forums are crazy and cannot let me post the file.

That's the quick answer, but a bit more information or corrections:

Survival effects the quality of the hide (along with your sharp tool--stone axe in most cases) and your sling.
Don't worry about your first sling being better than q20 or so. You'll need a boar hide to make leather to get much better (or a lot of time breeding farm animals). You'll not likely even get that unless you have some decent quality water nearby to average out the crappy tanning tub you'll make at first.
You can go back, edit your post, and change the topic.
You can't pave within so many tiles of some terrain: Swamp, river/lake, and cave walls off the top of my head. It can vary for each type of terrain.
The game doesn't have any distances in metric measurements. It's just "tiles" which are counted to measure the size of the minimap, supergrid, etc.
The forums don't let you upload the files for a reason. Get your own damn host and then link the picture. There's plenty of free ones out there. (A few rare forum sites do host the pictures themselves, but they're the rare exceptions, not the rule.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I've got another question - what is the quality for Tanning Tub? I believe it's close to being softcapped by one's Carpentry, Q of boards used and saw used? If so, can i have a full math graph?

Quality of built objects is solely determined by the quality of their parts, nothing caps it.
