Even without a claim it is considered theft if you steal from a container in the leanto if someone is sleeping in it right?

What happens if you destroy the leanto, does the crate appear outside like when a house is destroyed or does it disapear forever? Would this be a way around stealing or would it take vandalism to destroy it if someone is sleeping in it?

I also heard you are able to put hearth fires in leanto's as economic vaults, is this true?

Yes and it leaves scents.
That takes vandalism.
You can't lift Hearthfires so you can't put them in leantos, so that doesn't work.

1. When you sleep in leanto then naughty players will need "theft" skill to steel the stuff you put in there (newbies do not have that skill).
2. If somebody had "theft" skill and robbed you then he'd leave "Reek of Theft" scent.
Also: When you sleep then nobody can kill you - you're safe (unless you killed someone and left "Stench of Murder" scent - in this case they can summon ya and kick your ass).
2. If somebody destroys leanto with crates, then crates appear nearby on the ground (it won't disappear).
3. You cannot pick up HF (heartfires) so you cannot put them into anything.
