Looking For Location (near impossible)

Postby pretzelguy1 » Thu Sep 22, 2011 1:06 am

I am looking to parter with a new buddy I met on this forum but I really don't want to create a new character. I have found the live map and I know his location.
Is it possible to:
A: Find My Coords (I am using enders client)
B: Get to the corner of the map? He is at a corner (not telling which) would the world generate more if I went to a corner?
I could probobly find my location on the live map but it would take quite a while, this would be easier.
I appreciate any and all help.

First thing - why don't you read around in the ringofbrodgar.com Wiki and in the forums a bit more so you don't have to make a new thread for everything that's on your mind but has been answered already?

The World size is fixed - so there is nothing to generate

You can travel in every direction and to every corner

Algeralith World map is not official but maintained by him and the data for the map is uploaded/updated by players

The best way to find your location is to look for the form of swamps, mudflats, heath in your area and search for it on World map - it helps to resize your minimap - make a screenshot of it and compare with world map

A: No.

B: Yes. What? No, I think.

If you want to travel to a corner, but don't know where from, does it really matter too much where you are? You know which way to go... The world stays the same size. If it ever gets bigger, there will be mention made of this on the forums. Otherwise, read the eleventyone other 'where am I?' threads for hints and tips on how to find yourself (my favourite hint: find a beach).

The only issue you may find is the situation of nuked areas; there's a thread on the announcements forum about why they exist. Basically, the normal edge of the world is an invisible wall. There are, however, some places within the world that also have an invisible wall around them. So if you're following what you think is the edge of the world, then suddenly you can go 'outside' of the invisible wall, it wasn't the edge at all, only a nuked area. There is a map of nuked areas on the thread in announcements, which may help you find yourself on the map.

It might be helpfull:

in the game: north is where your upper right monitor corner is, west is upper left corner, south is bottom left corner, east is bottom right corner

on World map north is top and south is bottom...

So to go Northeast you would go right on your screen?

I think OP is asking if the world wraps around. No, it doesn't. Coordinates are fixed.

The easiest way to get to him/her without making a new character is to make a party. You'll need to kin each other first by using a Hearth Secret (commonly HS), which is set on your Kin window (the two text boxes below). The left box sets your hearth secret, the right is used to add another player as kin using their HS. After you form a party, click on the other player's portrait and you'll start walking their direction. It can take a very long time to get to them, though, and you'll most definitely need a boat. Feel free to take one that's just laying around and not on a claim. (Their fault if they left it laying around.)

Isometric views almost always have North towards the upper-right corner, so yes, NE would be directly to the right of the window. You can always follow the minimap movement to make sure you're traveling correctly. :)
