Cat gold is the worst curio in the game and unless you're leaving for days at a time don't even bother studying it, and you need gauze made from wool to heal back. Put it on your head and wait basically, another way is leeches, let them suck on your flesh and you'll have a chance of them healing points back but it takes foreverr
