Can someone please explain to me how mining in a cave works? Does prospecting make a difference? if it says no minerals are found, are there really none?

Also can someone please explain: direction 26 delta 5

To mine in a cave, just walk around attempting to mine the walls (by choosing [A]dventure: [M]ine and clicking on the wall). If you get rocks dropping out of the wall and landing on the floor, there is no metal there, move along. If you get ore appearing in your inventory, yay. It's not possible to mine within 50 squares of a cave entrance, so don't try it there.

Attempts to prospect in a cave will show you any metals on Level 2, or not, as the case may be.

If you don't understand the direction/delta thing just follow the pie slice, don't you get a pie slice too? Or just search for the 548935 previous threads about prospecting, I'm pretty sure MagicManICT's written something useful and possibly even put it in the wiki under 'Prospecting'.

Check those rocks that drop. You never know when you're going to get quality stones for a better stone axe.

If trying to mine somewhere it's not possible, you'll not even move when clicking on the space. It's an unexpected behavior and doesn't have an error message tied to it.

Yes, there's a pie slice, too. The direction and delta are something that is displayed in the custom clients only and is the information transmitted to the client from the server. I never can remember the relations, but as min says, it's in the prospecting guide. It is on the wiki http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Prospecting, and was written by Sevenless. The same guide is here in the "How Do I?" section but expanded and has some screenshots to go with it. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18450&hilit=prospecting+guide#p213759

Just because there are none found doesn't mean there are literally none, just none in that specific area. You can make a minehole anywhere but if there are none around you'll have to do a significant amount of digging to get to some metal
