Fishing for Plaice

Postby SubmittedDenied » Wed Sep 28, 2011 9:11 am

Hi all,

I have a need to increase my PER, so I'm fishing for plaice. The Ring of Brogdar wiki says that I should be using a rock lobster lure in lake depths, but it also says I want the lake shallows...

Which is right? Is there a better (read: faster) way I can increase my PER?

Thanks for your help :)

EDIT: thought I might mention that I have been trying in lake depths but I keep getting Pike. Maybe I'm just unlucky?

There are so many factors influencing this that I don't think anyone can give proper answer.
Time of day, moon phase, lure, fishing equipment quality, probably also type of string - they all have impact.
I can only say that I had some luck with getting plaices from shallow lake at night during full moon or nearly full moon with wood fish lure and low quality fishing pole (10-15 ql)

But then again I might be completely wrong

Its been some time, but I think the only way I ever got plaice, were in lake shallows with leeches while ascending moon phase^^

you could always just eat your veggies...carrots, beets, and peas all give perception

as far as your plaice problem, I don't think I've ever caught 1 :P

like others said, there seems to be too many factors to say "this and this" for certain kinds of fish.
but i had never gotten plaice with a rock lobster, always either woodfish or intestines, shallow lakes.
many people say at full moon, but i always got plaice at crescent moon nights where i fished.

if you have hard time figuring out about fishing, id also suggest farming, itll probably be much easier.

Keep in my mind that this is probably a beginner.
He doesn't have animals, he doesn't have meat grinder, he doesn't have carrots yet.
Carrot seeds seem to appear very rarely on WWWs.

In this and in previous world I have never gotten any carrot seed from drying WWWs. The only ones I got in this world came from some abandoned field :(

obtaining carrots from WWWs is just a luck, nothing hard but patience if no luck. it doesnt matter if you're a beginner or not.
and at this stage of the game, everyone can find carrots pretty easily from abandoned farms or by trades, or maybe just gifts if lucky enough to find nice enough neighbors.

If you search far enough and pick enough WWWs you'll get carrots, but I agree that its easier to trade/find them.

Boiled eggs also give perc

I've found plaice often in river shallows. Unfortunately river shallows are very hard to fish in, because unless there is a little finger of shallow water sticking out into the river, you can't fish river shallows since the bank drops off so steeply. This was around July when I was newbie this world, so I don't recall the moon cycle at the time. I was always using leeches for bait.
