Well your best chance to meet people is to travel a river since they're used as highways for a number of reasons (hunting, foraging, etc.). You could also try to run around a larger village in your area. Most people are not online for extended periods of time but bigger villages are more likely to have someone inside when you pass by. Eventually you'll bump into a person. And if not... you could always sign up for a village on the recruitment forum here.

However, it may not be the best idea to actually seek out people. A lot will simply kill you it seems. Can't say so from my own experience but the forums are full of threads with people who died by meeting a stranger in a dark corner. :p
I'm still ashamed and embarrassed about my last post. There are many small reasons but no real excuse for what I said in the end. All that remains is regret because I won't be able to make up for it again.

See you in a different game maybe. Hopefully without retardation from my side.

http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Wild_Windsown_Weed

You only need a value of 80 perception x Exploration to see wild windsown weeds. Although that is just the bare minimum to be able to find them but it's still easy enough to get there. You start with 10 perception already, so it's only 8 exploration that you need in the worst case. WWWs also grow everywhere I think, so it shouldn't be too difficult to acquire some. Drying them on a frame takes some time though. It's alot faster faster on a herbalist's table but you won't be able to build one until you can either grow flax or hemp for plant fibres.

Another option is to ask or trade for seeds. But you would have to find people to do that first... which seems to be the main issue. :p

There are waterways Everywhere on the map. So much so to the point where it is sort of frustratingly difficult to get any distance between yourself and said water.

You're currently isolating yourself to a very small area if you're having difficulty finding people, water, or terrain besides forest. Explore further out and you'll start running into things.

I have to second this. If you're not walking at least 5-10 minutes minimum in any one direction, you're not going to find anything.

Theres a decent village like 30 seconds running up west. Then to the very north-west of my hearthfire therers this giant village called something like Oz. And theres also a pretty big village called Oaklyne or something, all deserted (i didnt see anybody).

Also, is it good that i build my settlement like a few tiles next to my hearthfire?

Given the broad timespan players are on, are you sure they're abandoned? Truly abandoned claims have no authority left, items decaying or broken, etc. etc.

It's usually considered a good idea to have your HF on your claim, inside a house. Anything else leaves you vulnerable if you happen to leave scents or to general griefing.
