Healing: Leeches & Gauze

First of all, thanks for taking the time to look, and/or help me out!

My question:

Is there any proper combination of Leeches and Gauze (say, leech quality or gauze q) in which they both heal simultaneously? Or does one more or less cancel out the other?

They both heal independently of one another. Gauze will always heal 30%(?) of your HHP no matter how many HHP you have or how badly injured you are.

Leeches have a random chance at healing a fixed amount of HHP every time they suck your blood (do SHP damage to you).

Gotcha - So to heal the most quickly, I should apply both leeches and gauze, and keep my hunger meter full.
