how to see in mines

how do i see in mines its really dark and i cant see anything?

You'll need a light source. That can be any kind of fire (fire, hearth fire), a torch carried or in a torchpost, or a miner's helmet.

Or you can "cheat" like 95% of the rest of the playerbase and get Ender's client which lets you turn the light back on (actually it's turning off the dark, but that confuses people). viewtopic.php?f=27&t=14575

You need to equip a torch and carry it in your hand. Light it once you have it equipped.

Light more torches. Dual wield torches! Light fires, torches, wear a miners cap with a lit candle it in, and carry a torchpost with a lit torch. The light radius from each item stacks.

Can you take a screenshot so we can see what you're seeing? I'm not sure if you mean that you have a light source around you now and you're just having trouble spotting anything significant or if you mean that it's pitch black and you literally can't see a thing. If it's pitch black and you literally can't see a thing, then you didn't light the torches. Open your paper doll, right click the torches, and light them.
