method for finding ore

sorry for so many threads i found a cave i can mine in finally it leads to most a lot of caves in the area i wondering what is the best method for finding some ore in the cave

Just start chipping away. That or you go outside the mine and start prospecting.

My village was raided because they came through our cave.... I heard you can build pali inside though that might do it

you shouldn't have the opening of your cave/minehole inside you walls.

@OP go around your cave check for soft spots. mining hardness is in nodes just like everything else, and the red messages will lead you to the softer areas. when you find the soft spots mine them a bit. it will mostly be rock, but you might find ore. when you get just rock be sure to check its quality. when you get ore zig zag/snake mine a bit and toss it in your smelter. if its a good ore build supports and take it all. if its crap ore keep looking.

Yes, you can, and yes, it (usually) will. Any wall can always be rammed down.
