How Would someone increase the quality of their pottery?

Dex when you craft from the clay, And then burn with a good quality Kiln, remember fuel counts too.

also finding better quality clay helps. not only for the object you're crafting but for better quality kiln. easiest way to improve fuel quality is to improve your carpentry skill, and get a good quality saw(bear bones) and use boards as fuel.

ah but you have forgotten that you will also need to level survival to make that saw. ;)

:P even at 1 survival you'll get a way better saw with a bear bone than you will with a rabbit bone, but yes work on survival too(oddly survival and carpentry can improve everything else in game)

coal is a good way to have better q of fuel. put wood (preferably boards) into the kiln and burn it. the next times you can use that coal as fuel then, to get even better coal next time

the better the kiln, the better your fuel this way
