Avatar appearance

The H&H website has a video showing some characters from the game and their activities, and I've noticed that these characters have different appearances from the ones I've seen- like grey hair, or different hairstyles. Is there a way to change appearance? Were these different character styles from previous worlds? Does appearance change as a character gets older? Or was this just an aesthetic addition for the video?

The video on the "Home"-Page is from a very early version of HnH.

Haha that is a cool idea, having your character physically age, you would be able to figure out how old a character is and if you should run or not :D No more helpless noobies, turning out to be raiders :D
I had a retardedly huge signature and have gotten this embarrassing replacement to show for it.

hiding your hair would give a good usage for some of those crappier hats....but how long would it take to go gray?

World 3 had an event where Jorb changed your hair to your liking. (This was done for anyone who applied.)

As for aging, it would be kind of cool, but then also limit the purpose of sandbox.

How so? I think it would add a new gameplay element, and embrace the temporary nature of characters.

While we're at it, a way to embrace the temporary nature of the worlds would be nice.

Probably so, but you have to remember, if you're going to age, there'll be stat differences. A teenager is way stronger than an old man. (Not like we're talking about mages here.) Which isn't fair at all. You could have worked hard on your character, but you died against someone weaker, because you played longer and aged. Now if it were just for appearances, then it's a waste in my opinion. Hairstyles again would probably be the best method of customization here.

Appearance is one thing. What about actually having some stats decline and some incline with age. As you get older you get slower and cant move around so much. You get weaker. You get wiser perhaps. In the end you are confined to the spruce bed and finally die.

I am aware that game play might get a bit boring in the end. How much LP that is transfered to the next generation depends on how old the char gets. If you die of old age perhaps 80% could be transfered. If you die on day one very little will be transferred.

The next obvious question would be how long is a hearthlings life? The servers life time varies a bit as it seems. So in some worlds dying from old age might not be an issue at all if a life lasts for 1 in game year.

Well I did a search for "aging" and found this closest to what I was thinking of. So I should rather start a new one?
